# Meetings

A meeting should exist because real-time conversation is the fastest or best way to accomplish something.

Before scheduling one, ask whether a clear message, document or Asana task would do the job.

If the meeting is necessary:

* have a purpose
* involve the people who actually need to be there
* share useful context beforehand when possible
* name the decision or outcome you need
* end with owners and next actions

Status reporting that can be read should usually be written.

Recurring meetings need to keep earning their place on the calendar. If a ritual stops helping, change it or kill it.
