# Recognition

> Good work should be expected, but it should also be noticed.

Recognition works best when it is specific. "Great job" is nice. "The way you simplified the client problem gave the whole team a clearer route into the pitch" teaches everybody what was valuable.

We want recognition to happen in the natural rhythm of work:

* leaders calling out meaningful contributions
* client praise being shared with the team
* wins and useful lessons surfaced in standup or All Hands
* peers giving each other credit
* managers noticing invisible work in 1:1s

Do not turn recognition into forced praise or a points system. If there is nothing meaningful to say that day, do not invent some corporate gold star.
