# The Documentation Standard

The best client documentation is useful enough that people actually open it.

Keep it concise. Link outward instead of dumping entire decks into it. Write in plain language. Add context that cannot be inferred from the formal brief. Be explicit about weird client preferences, political sensitivities, recurring workflow issues and lessons we have already paid to learn once.

A good Living Document should make the next person useful faster.
